Barrington Art Festival

Dash to Cure Diabetes

Registration begins 6:30 a.m.

The twelfth running of the Dash to Cure Diabetes, will feature a four mile trail run on the prairie path between Citizen’s Park and Cuba Marsh, a 5K walk through the streets of Barrington and Junior dashes for children. Memorial Day Parade and Services

Begins at Cook and Main Streets, 10 a.m.

The Barrington Memorial Day service includes a solemn ceremony conducted by the VFW and Barrington area residents. The parade route will begin downtown and will lead participants to Evergreen Cemetery where there will be a short service. For more information, call 847-842-9139.

Dash for the Dogs

Saturday, June 4

Citizens Park, 511 Lake Zurich Road, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Animal House Shelter (AHS), a non-profit animal shelter, rescues neglected and abused dogs and cats from various pounds and animal control facilities before they are euthanized. They work to rehabilitate the animals physically and mentally in order to place them up for adoption. For the first time, AHS is partnering with the Doghouse of Barrington to host a family and animal friendly event. Registration begins at 8 a.m. followed by a one-mile family walk/run at 10 a.m. Advanced registration is $25 and $30 the day of the race.

Bring your dog for a guaranteed tail wagging good time. The day will be filled with kid’s games, catered food, a bags tournament and free-throw contest. All proceeds from the event will go to AHS. Relay for Life of Barrington

Join Relay for Life of Barrington for the annual American Cancer Society fundraising event to celebrate, fight back and remember. GiGi’s Playhouse Dash for Down syndrome

Get your team together for the 8th annual GiGi’s Playhouse 5K Fun Run, 1-mile walk and Dash for Down syndrome. This year’s event starts at 8:45 a.m. followed by the 1-mile walk at 9:30 a.m. and the Dash immediately following.  The top 5 fundraising teams get a tent. All funds go towards the educational and therapeutic programs in the Chicago land area. Stay after the race for a family day at Pinstripes with food, bands, bocce and more. 11th Annual Barrington Country Garden & Antique Faire

June 17 and June 18

Tour the gardens of three Barrington Hills estates and enjoy boutique shopping in the French market. Each day will feature on-going garden demonstrations and vignettes. Tickets are $40 through June 13, $50 June 14 and after. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door. Vacation Bible School

Register your child now for Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Barrington United Methodist Church. VBS welcomes all children age four through 5th grade. Each day the children will learn a different Bible point through singing, crafts, games, drama and snacks. This year’s theme is “Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus Was a Kid.” The fee is $25 per child; this includes a T-shirt ($5 surcharge after June 18).
