The Village of Barrington’s motto, noted above, requires a dedicated army of doers, heavy lifters, helpers, and especially astute leaders—those who help leave our community better than they found it—to be a great place. We are fortunate to have numerous and robust nonprofit organizations that meet unmet needs and improve our collective quality of life. We celebrate local conservation and preservation groups who have secured much of our open spaces for future generations to enjoy. Our Barrington 220 schools continue evolving to meet the needs of students who attend from a 72-square mile district. Best of all, greater Barrington area community members and leaders know how to work together.
We are proud to feature two of our area’s most passionate leaders, Dr. Stacie Stephenson and Richard J Stephenson. They have teamed up in life, now with adorable twin sons, and they are unmatched in their work to fight cancer. Gateway for Cancer Research is their platform, and all are invited to participate in the nonprofit’s goals of funding Phase I and II clinical research trials. They are filling an urgently needed research gap to find cures for a variety of cancers, while building the road to hope for saving lives. In their cover feature story, we include photos from their recent and extraordinary Cures Gala held at their estate.
In this issue we fondly remember Fr. Bernie Pietrzak of Saint Anne Catholic Community, and Tim Dunn, a beloved family man who touched thousands of lives. While we look back at their immeasurable legacies, we find hope by introducing some next generation entrepreneurs who have stepped in to run legacy Barrington businesses that we’ve come to appreciate in our day-to-day lives.
Happy New Year!
